How to Operate Your new Automatic Sliding Door

The BDE-D control pad is the primary user interface for managing daily operation of Record STA 20 automatic sliding doors. Designed for simplicity and reliability, it allows building users and staff to select door operating modes, monitor door status and respond quickly to any system messages.

In Automatic mode, the STA 20 sliding doors operate normally, opening in response to activation devices such as sensors or push buttons from either side. The BDE-D display provides clear visual feedback, including operational status and fault indications, making it easier to identify issues without specialist knowledge.

When Continuously Open (Hold Open) is selected, the sliding doors remain fully open until another mode is chosen. This mode is commonly used during busy trading periods, deliveries or cleaning. For greater control of pedestrian flow, One-Way mode allows activation from a single direction only, helping manage closing routines or restricted access periods.

The BDE-D also supports Manual mode on sliding doors. By pressing the hold-open button twice, automatic activation is disabled, allowing doors to be operated manually if required. This can be useful during maintenance or specific site conditions.

A key energy-saving feature is Reduced Opening Width, often referred to as winter mode. When selected, the doors open to a narrower width, helping to retain internal heat during colder months while still allowing safe passage. This function is especially beneficial in retail and commercial buildings where energy efficiency is important.

At the end of the day, doors can be electronically locked using the BDE-D. Staff can release the lock to allow a final exit cycle, after which the doors close automatically and can then be secured with mechanical locks. In the morning, the door is unlocked manually before selecting the required operating mode on the control pad.

To prevent unauthorised changes, the BDE-D keypad can be locked, ensuring only trained or authorised users can alter settings. If the door experiences operational issues, a soft reset can be carried out via the control pad once the doorway is confirmed clear.
