Beacon Place Shopping Centre, Merthyr

Intro

Beacon Place Shopping Centre, which was built in 2003 and has been providing service to the community ever since was looking to make a change to the front entrance to save space and modernise the centre frontage.

They wanted to change the existing front doors with new ones that would give the shopping centre a cleaner, more contemporary appearance. The new automatic doors will also aid in the prevention of weather entering the building and accessibility concerns.

Problem

The area had two sets of swing doors that were manually operated. In a commercial environment, swing doors aren’t ideal since they don’t allow for quick access or exit to persons who are carrying a lot of goods as well as parents with buggies or wheelchair users.

They also had difficulty with inclement weather, when customers would leave the doors open it would allow rain and other elements to get in. Finally, the customer needed to keep with their company image but stay on a budget.

Solution

We went to the site to meet the client and we came up with a new modern design. The team recommended changing the 2 doors to 1 set of bi-parting automatic doors. This would not only save space for the customer within the store but also give it a fresh new modern look.

The customer accepted the new designs and the J Manny team got to work. They’ve now left them with the optimal solution allowing for quicker access for all customers as well as preventing the weather from entering the store.
