Client Challenge: Delivering Upgrades in a Live Rail Environment
Delivering infrastructure upgrades within a live rail station presents a unique set of challenges. The project required precise coordination, strict adherence to programme schedules, and the ability to work safely within a busy public transport environment without disrupting daily operations.
Our contractor, working in collaboration with Network Rail, Sisk, and GWR, required a trusted partner to deliver compliant, high-performance access and security solutions within the station.
The key objectives included improving accessibility, enhancing security, and upgrading thermal efficiency across key areas of the station.
Our Solution: Compliant, Integrated Access & Security Systems
We successfully delivered and installed a range of specialist systems tailored to the operational demands of the station environment.
Scope of works included:
- Installation of 3 new double thermally broken Senior Systems swing door sets
- Integration with Record DFA127 swing door operators
- Full compliance with BS EN 16005 accessibility standards
Additional installations:
- 3 new roller shutter systems, including:
- 1 serving the main station ticket office
- 2 securing a new retail unit within the station concourse
Each element was carefully specified and installed to ensure durability, reliability, and seamless operation within a high-traffic setting.
Project Benefits
Improved accessibility through fully compliant automatic door systems
Enhanced security across key operational and retail areas
Increased thermal efficiency with thermally broken door systems
Reliable performance in a demanding, high-traffic environment
Minimal disruption to daily station operations during installation
High-quality finish aligned with public-facing infrastructure standards
Rail Station Automatic Door Installation: Outcome
The project was delivered successfully within a live station environment, demonstrating strong coordination, technical expertise, and commitment to quality.
The upgraded systems now provide secure, efficient, and accessible entry points while supporting the station’s day-to-day operations without compromise.
This project highlights the importance of delivering not just installations, but complete, reliable solutions that perform under pressure in complex, operational environments.
Rail Station Automatic Door Installation: Conclusion
